WELCOME TO CORRAL’S MARTIAL ARTS!
When first getting started at our Academy, our new student start-up guidelines on rules, proper uniform, hygiene, and respect will help you have a fulfilling martial arts experience alongside your teammates.
GETTING STARTED
Your martial arts journey begins today!
It is said that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a journey, a long and often difficult process of personal change and development. This journey requires dedication, discipline, and patience. A BLACK BELT in Brazilian Jiu- Jitsu is a WHITE BELT that never quit.

PROPER UNIFORM
CMA holds itself to a high standard. To maintain our professional image, it is of utmost importance that we look like a team.
This begins with all students proudly wearing the Academy uniform. Social media is our fastest way to continue growing as a team. When photos are posted to the world, CMA must appear as a clean, professional, well-organized learning facility. This begins with the proper uniform.

HOUSE KEEPING
HYGIENE
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a very close contact sport. Please be respectful and show up odor-free.
JEWELRY
Prevent injuries to yourself and others by removing all jewelry before stepping onto the mat.
SKIN CONDITIONS
All contact sports are a risk for contiguous skin conditions. Most are treatable and not long-lasting when caught early. Please take a look at the video under “Useful Info” with Doctor George. Most common treatable conditons are:
BARE FEET
Keeping the training area free from bacteria helps prevent skin conditions. Always wear flip flops when entering the restroom.
FOOTWEAR
Any footwear worn outside can potentially bring bacteria into the Academy. Remove footwear in the observation room and place under the seating bench. Do not leave your shoes laying on the floor. This creates a tripping hazard.
PERSONAL HYGIENE
MAKE-UP
All makeup should be removed before stepping onto the mat. When rolling makeup becomes a problem, as it finds itself on your training partner’s uniform.
RESPECT
CMA is a diverse training center. Respectful boundaries are essential to maintain a positive training environment.
Your actions determine how your training partners interact with you. Avoid these simple actions so you become the teammate everyone wants to roll with.
GENERAL
INSTRUCTORS
All CMA instructors have earned their rank and a level of respect is required.
FEMALE STUDENTS
CMA is a safe family-friendly academy. Our female team is growing. When rolling or interacting with female students always be respectful.
Simply, don’t be a creep.
EMOTIONS
Your mood determines how you interact with people, how you deal with challenges, and how you spend your time. Gaining control over your emotions will help you become mentally stronger. If you’re having a bad day and have an attitude, stay home.
ROLLING WITH RESPECT
Not everyone is here to roll competitively. Being able to recognize this makes you an enjoyable teammate that everyone looks forward to working with. Younger students, who have competition goals, mostly enjoy the hard competitive rolling. Older students may not look for competitive rolls, as their goals may be only to get in shape and lose weight. Female students are at a disadvantage because of size and strength, so they require a teammate that has self control.
A simple solution is to match your partner’s energy.
